A Battery Management System (BMS) is the electronic circuit that protects your lithium battery from damage and ensures safe, efficient operation. Every MVB battery includes an integrated BMS — and we also supply standalone BMS units for custom battery builds, DIY packs, and replacement needs.

What Does a BMS Do?

• Overcharge Protection: Cuts off charging when cells reach maximum voltage — prevents fire and cell damage.
• Over-Discharge Protection: Stops discharge before cells drop too low — extends battery life significantly.
• Short Circuit Protection: Instantly disconnects on short circuit — protects battery and vehicle wiring.
• Cell Balancing: Keeps all cells at equal voltage — maximises usable capacity and extends pack life.
• Thermal Protection: Monitors temperature and cuts off if pack overheats.

LFP vs NMC BMS — Are They Interchangeable?

No. LFP and NMC cells have different voltage ranges. Always use a BMS rated for your specific cell chemistry. Using the wrong BMS will result in incorrect cut-off voltages and can damage your cells.
